About The Founder/Director:

Dr. Karel James Bouse is a published author, educator, independent researcher, Psychologist, Integrative Spirituality, and Self-discovery Consultant.

She has presented workshops on Neo-shamanism, transgenerational trauma, personal mythology, dreamwork, and creativity at academic and professional conferences in the US and abroad. She founded IEP in 2019 after recognizing the need for a multi-disciplinary, international, forum to support the work of her colleagues while simultaneously making their work accessible to interested non-academics.

Dr. Bouse has been a peer reviewer for The Journal of Humanistic Psychology and The Journal of Psychical Research (UK), and recently edited a special issue of The Journal of Humanistic Psychology devoted to “Mysticism, Magic and Anomalous Lifeworlds.”

She has been a documentary writer for CBS, rock journalist, corporate international paralegal, college teacher, costumer, opera singer and voice teacher, and opera conductor/director. She has been a Neo-shamanic Practitioner for nearly 30 years and has created programs and taught classes, courses and workshops in Neo-shamanism, Spirituality and Self-discovery since 1991.

• Ph.D. Psychology (Consciousness-Spirituality-Integrative Health) from Saybrook University (2017). Graduated with Dissertation of Distinction.
• Certificates in Applied Consciousness, Dream Studies and Self-Expression for Health and Wellbeing (2016) from Saybrook University.
• Ph.D. History/American Studies from University of Maryland (1989).
